The earth has been defiled by lies and the twisting of truth by Satan as such the result is gold and silver (all commodities and earthy, original meanings Satan lied about and twisted the truth.) as well their original meaning Satan changed (inverted the truth and made it a lack as the devil steals, kills, and destroys, just as the scorching heat and the bitter cold how God supersedes it and uses what was meant for harm and makes it the original upright meaning when His Way is followed!).
